Thanks Bill. I always have struggled to balance mourning for our broken world, and my own shortfalls, with the hope, the promise, and all the obvious blessings around me. This fellow gets to it pretty clearly. Thom
From the book of Ezra chapter 6, the governor of the province Beyond the River, enforced a decree by a new order from Darius the King that the temple be completed.
"The gospel church, that spiritual temple, is long in the building, but it will be finished at last, when the mystical body is completed. Every believer is a living temple, building up himself in his most holy faith: much opposition is given to this work by Satan and our own corruptions. We trifle, and proceed in it with many stops and pauses; but He that has begun the good work will see it performed."
-Matthew Henry
Near The Cross (verse 4)
Near the cross I'll watch and wait Hoping, trusting ever, Till I reach the golden strand, Just beyond the river. Refrain In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river.
Thanks Bill. I always have struggled to balance mourning for our broken world, and my own shortfalls, with the hope, the promise, and all the obvious blessings around me. This fellow gets to it pretty clearly.
